Although, Theodore Roosevelt, had never played football, he had a great love and concern for the future of the game. Growing concerns mounted in Roosevelt because players had little to no protection needed to avoid injuries. Broken bones, concussions, and even death occurred, while playing football. The mounting injuries caused a division between the college heads and students. The college heads hated it.
