“Who Are the 1 in 4 American Women Who Choose Abortion?” by Luu Ireland is an essay that provides and explains who gets abortions and why they do it. Ireland is a physician who deals with women wanting abortions daily, for many reasons. These reasons include wrong timing, can’t afford it, don’t want anymore children, not wanting to be a single mother, and being too young; along with this are other reasons such as the baby interfering with career plans and also health problems that make the woman choose between her life or the baby’s life (Ireland 245). To start off, I think more people should be open minded about the idea of abortion and considerate of those who choose to have one. This is because many women are put down for their choices when some don’t feel like they have a choice in the first place. For some women, choosing to get an abortion could save their life. Since the risk of having the baby is higher, it would make sense for the women, who either can’t afford to have a child or aren’t healthy enough to have one, to have an abortion.
