Abortion: Should it Stay Legal?
It isn’t hard to see that abortion is a very widespread discussion topic, abortion is a topic almost everyone has an opinion on. Many people are “Pro Life” or against abortion. Many believe abortion is murder, or that the baby should have the same rights as us. But the question is when do you consider the baby to be “Alive”. Mothers should be able to pick if they want to have a baby, when they want to have a baby, and if they are ready to have a baby. Without abortion being legal, tons of illegal and unsafe abortions will be performed. Abortion may also help keep mothers out of depression or children born with birth defects.
Abortion should stay legal because it gives women control over their own body. Casey Frances said that “While women of every social class seek terminations, the typical woman who ends her pregnancy is either young, white, unmarried, poor, or over the age of 40”. Therefore most females that have an abortion have valid reasoning to do so. About 55.3 million people die each year, if you assume half is woman and half are men, that’s 344,500 woman dying from illegal abortions each year.
