Abortion is a widely used legal procedure in the United States today. Several different individuals such as teenagers, rape victims, or even mothers facing financial difficulties. However, all of us should be considering whether this procedure should remain legal. Connected to questions about abortion is the organization Planned Parenthood. Should Planned Parenthood provide abortions? Although it’s easy to look at the mother’s side of the argument in this debate, who is considering the baby’s side? If people become more informed about abortion, they will better understand the different points of controversy and will know the reasoning behind different points of view. Then some might argue that the child doesn’t understand anything, that it is too small to comprehend what is happening, or that it’s not even alive yet. When a baby is just six weeks past conception its heart is beating 150 times a minute, which is very much alive if you ask me. By week ten the rest of the baby’s vital organs are developed, within the first twelve weeks of development when such as the liver, kidneys, intestines, brain, and lungs. An abortion usually takes place during the first trimester which is within the first twelve weeks of development when the baby has all his or her organs. Also, the baby’s ears are almost in the correct position along with the eyes. To make the process more bearable for women to endure, they lie to themselves and say the baby is not alive yet, but if the baby were placed in front of these women and they actually saw the way it looked, I do not believe even half of them could end the baby’s life. On the contrary, it is an execution, which is “to put to death in accordance with a legally imposed sentence,” described on Google dictionary. Women seek an abortion in several different situations: teenagers who experience unplanned pregnancies, rape victims trying to erase the memory, and mothers who can’t support a child. These may seem like reasonable explanations, but who is defending the baby? Abortion is taking a life that hasn’t lived yet. When we have organizations like Planned Parenthood that make abortion a simple process, it might not exactly be encouraging abortion, but we are definitely not discouraging it either. Although it is imperative to keep an open mind and consider the opinions of others, my opinion still stands that abortion should not be legal because with all the gray areas aside, the baby’s life should not be terminated when the baby is innocent and deserves a chance to
