In Mrs. Carolyn Gregoire’s passage, “Why are Millions of People Spending Time Watching Others Play Video Games” the author presented a notion that modern technology, especially the global web and online communities are making emotionally desensitized since they could not fulfill the same needs as real-world communities. In her mind, social networks and online communities are significantly inferior to real life, as she believes they reduce bonding among human. Mrs. Gregoire also believes these technological inventions are “leaving people with more superficial connections than they would have otherwise”, thus human need device free time.
