In 1987, Wendell Berry published his article “Why I am Not Going to Buy a Computer” in the journal New England Review and Bread Loaf Quarterly. In it, Berry encourages us to be less hooked to the energy corporations, yet he focuses specifically on technological innovation. Accordingly, Berry starts the article by mentioning that he uses two methods to avoid overusing the energy corporations' newest tools. The first method is to work with a piece of paper and a pencil or pen; however, he also acknowledged to had asked his wife to type his work on a typewriter. The second way is by welcoming his wife to his work since she has a crucial role in editing it. Next, Berry explains the reasons behind his refusal of buying a computer. He maintains that
