Should College Athletes Get Paid
College sports are the building block for all future athletes and superstars. According to a survey conducted by Harris Interactive, around 45 percent of the U.S. Americans follow college sports. If college athletes were getting paid they may stay in school longer, and these student-athletes spend about 43.3 hours per week to their sports, which is like having a full-time job. After dedicating most of their time to their physically demanding athletics and mentally challenging academics, college athletes should be compensated for their talents.
All parents should want their child finishing school whether they become a professional athlete or not. Some players do not even go to college and go to a foreign league

A persons salary is based off of 40 hour, so these college athletes are technically working 3 hours overtime. But, college athletes are not required to simply play sports 40 hours a week. They also go to school full-time, which is another 40 hours a week, not including homework which is about another 10 hours. They are not slacking with their classes either, they must keep their grades up or they forfeit their scholarship. Combine the 43.3 hours for sports and 50 for academics and that equals 93.3 hours a week, which is equivalent to 2 full-time jobs with 13 hours overtime. Some athletes get part time jobs on the side just to have money in their pockets for when they are not studying for training. If the NCAA paid its athletes, they would not have to add stress worrying about money. If the student-athletes did not have to focus about their finances, they could spend 10-15 more hours defining their game and their grades. This helps prevent tired athletes from underperforming in both the classroom and on the court or field. Instead of chasing part time jobs, athletes could focus more on their game to earn higher rewards. The NCAA often states that paying college athletes would destroy the competitiveness of the sport. That makes no sense, the NFL pays its players based on their worth and their performance.The tiered payment process is great because it pushes players to play well or keep their play at a superstar caliber in order to get a more substantial paycheck.
