An Exciting New Discovery Strictly For Rodents
There is a recent study on how young blood might reserve aging. In June, Stanford biologist Tony Wyss-Coray found that proteins in the blood of younger mice can dramatically reverse the effects of aging when given to older mice. Swapping young blood for old, to reverse aging, should not be allowed.
The first and foremost reason as to why swapping young blood for old, to reverse aging, should not be allowed is that this study has only been mastered with rodents. “The first, very limited human trial has just begun, so we don’t yet know if the transfer of blood between young and old would even work in humans, or how well” (Interlandi 5). We are uneducated on what this could do humans. Some are positive that swapping of blood could expedite people’s healing, but the undiscovered results of swapping blood with humans could be menacing. The negative results will likely outweigh any positive results that may occur. …show more content…

An article says, “If rich or desperate would-be patients are determined enough, a black market could emerge, while critics of the current system argue that even the legal market might not be as safe as we think it is” (Interlandi 6). The black market is dangerous for a number of reasons and especially when it involves medical things, like blood transfusions. Diseases or viruses such as HIV or AIDS could easily come about. And even if the blood was purchased through a legal market, we are back to square one: will this even nourish humanbeings? Not to mention, the government must levy higher taxes to compensate for the lost revenue too. This would only contribute to a greater debt that America is entombed
