Comparing Beowulf to Superman
Most everyone has a favorite superhero but few would consider beowulf to be there's, but just how similar is beowulf to a common superhero? Beowulf is basically a traveling hero who goes from country to country slaying monsters that terrorize people. Superman is an alien that comes to earth as an infant and uses his alien powers to do good for mankind. These two characters are similar in that they both do good for mankind and have special abilities, however they are different. Superman and Beowulf dont have the same “ego” and not all of the same abilities.
To begin, Beowulf is a human who is a bit of an adrenalin junkie, he loves the thrill of being in danger. Beowulf also loves to show off and make his presents known. In the story of Beowulf he travels to King Hrothgar's kingdom to help the danes with an evil monster named Grendel. Beowulf Kills grendel with his bare hands and hangs the monster's arm for everyone in the kingdome to see. He later goes and kills Grendel's mother, hidden in

When beowulf arrives to help King hrothgar slay Grendel he is confronted by Unferth who questions him. Beowulf responds by telling stories of his previous adventures making him sound very impressive to everyone around. Superman on the other hand is not like Beowulf at all when it comes to glory. Superman will save hundreds of lives and accept nothing in return. Superman will not be seen walking down the streets everyday being praised by everyone, this might however just be because he has a life as Clark Kent. When superman isn't superman he is Clark Kent who is a “normal” human in society. Obviously Clark does not want everyone knowing who he is, he just wants to remain a normal person. On the other hand Beowulf has done the opposite he has tried to make it so that everyone he sees walking down the street knows who he is and what he has
