The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins describes a world where technology is used to oppress people by using the games where two tributes from each district are selected randomly to compete in “games”. They go into an arena and fight for their lives against the other twenty-four tributes. The capitol uses this as entertainment, and finds pleasure in terrorizing the twelve outer districts. They created this system to keep the districts from rebelling, and the people in the capitol are benefiting from the labor and resources of the twelve districts. The more we divide ourselves from each other, racially, sexually, and religiously, the closer we get to having a reality like The Hunger Games. Surveillance is a big way we are becoming closer to having a reality like The Hunger Games. We are being tracked on a daily basis when we are carrying our phones everywhere we go, and are always on social media. In China they are evolving everyday and by year 2020 they will be under complete surveillance. In the book, they had DNA tests, they have cameras set up in every district, and in the arena. What they use in The Hunger Games, and what we use in real life isn't that different. We use television, and on the television we watch sports where people are fighting against each other to win. A couple examples of the sports that we watch are MMA, Football, Wrestling, and many more. It's not only sports that we enjoy watching as cruel entertainment we also watch A Thousand Ways to Die, Murder shows and all kinds of other things. In the book, they watch people killing each other, scared for their lives, but in reality we are not that extreme yet, we certainly are heading in that
