Susan B. Anthony once said, “The day may be approaching when the whole world will recognize woman as the equal of man.” Despite their history of fighting for their rights and equality, women are still not being treated fairly in the workplace and are not given the opportunities to work positions that men are generally given; however, the women that braved the headwinds and made it to the top know what advice should be given to other women who aspire to do the same. Throughout history, women have faced a hard, enduring fight against society about their rights and what they deserve. Although it would be difficult to fully change the judgement on women, they have the ability to improve their image on how skilled and knowledgeable they appear. Compared to men, women have a higher graduating percentage in college and high school, thus eliminating part of the skilled and knowledgeable difference. This does not necessarily indicate that women are smarter than men, but it does show that women can hold out and finish a job or task. From the 2013 United States Department of Labor statistics, it is explained that “of the 64,421,000 women 25 years of age and older participating in the labor force in 2013, 25.3 percent had a high school diploma, no college, 17.5 percent had some college, 12.7 percent had an associate’s degree, and 37.8 percent had a bachelor’s degree or higher” (Data and Statistics…). Companies look at a potential employee’s education history to see whether or not they finished high school or college. As women begin to find their voice, they start to realize how unfair businesses are treating them and are planning to take action. Some countries have even noticed this outreach and are supporting these women. Scandinavian countries that reserve 10 percent of their senior management jobs for women consistently rank highly in terms of innovativeness (Bhatti). With the help from other leaders and businesses, women are beginning to earn part of what they have been fighting for. For example, the earned income of women is growing faster than men’s (Bhatti). By seizing their opportunities, women can can have a greater chance of working in an equal opportunity work
