The Town chosen for our project is Kingsville, one of seven municipalities in the County of Essex, Ontario, with a population of 21,362 (Statistics Canada, 2012). The municipal website is a major source of information for our community profile, providing an overview of the town’s governance structure, surrounding amenities and resources, connections to larger transportation networks, and economic goals. In terms of non-work intercity travel demand assessment, we will be looking at the availability of various essential services such as hospitals, commercial stores, and institutions in the town itself. Conversely, we will look at the closest options for Kingsville residents if some of these non-work demands and services are not available within the city. This will be researched through the use of the town’s online business directory and displayed through the use of GIS Maps to determine non-work intercity travel from Kingsville. We have also found that Kingsville attracts cottage-goers and has a healthy tourism industry even though it is relatively far from major
