Ashputtle was written by the Grimm brothers. Jakob and Wilhelm Grim were born in Germany at the end of the 18th century. They both grew up in poverty due to an early death of their father. They graduated from law school but had a love for the language arts and wrote stories and collections told by people throughout their lives. They are well known for these stories such as Snow White, Rumpelstiltskin as well as Cinderella (Literature, 1129).
