Symbolism In The Little Mermaid

Have you ever had a misunderstanding with one of your family members about something? Like if your sibling had a stuffed animal and you take it with you to wash it but they get mad because it meant something special to them? But you just thought it was a stuffed animal, well that's how Stacy felt when her grandmother took away her ballet shoes with ribbon. In the beginning of the story, grandmother and stacey didn't get along so well. They were constantly fighting and arguing and at one point stacey thought her grandmother didn't like her because she didn't look more asian like her brother was. Stacey said “Ian and I both have brown eyes but his hair is black while mine is brown like dads… In fact everything about Ian looks more chinese “ (Laurence yep pg.2).
