In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird there are many forms of symbolism. Some may be the dog that was white, brown and black that was shot and killed by Atticus because it had rabies. This showed that there was racism and he was trying to kill it like in the case he supported a black man even though there was no chance he would win since the man was black. There were many symbols like that that stood out, but once you dig a little deeper you will find many that still contribute to the story in a huge way.
First one thing that many do not seem to catch is the title of the book which is To Kill a Mockingbird. This title has a huge meaning that changes your outlook on the book once you figure it out. The title can also be seen as to kill innocence.
