Animal Imagery in Fahrenheit 451 From the fire of burning books to mechanical hounds, Fahrenheit 451 takes place in a society that despises books and the people there only care about technology. But, by reading Fahrenheit 451, many individuals will start to notice, throughout the entire novel, there are a lot of references to animals. Yet, sometimes readers won’t notice them and the topic can get kinda serious, there’s a lot to cover about animal imagery in Fahrenheit 451: (1)The comparison of birds flying away to the fire of burning books; (2) The snake-like tool used to help Mildred when she attempts suicide; (3) The dominant presence of the Mechanical Hound.
