In Kate Chopin Story of an Hour, there’s tons of different ironic pieces and symbols throughout the excerpt. Symbolism can not only be related to objects it also relates to actions and characters. These symbols have a deeper meaning to the story than what meets the eye. Some of these symbols are the mentioning of Mrs. Mallard’s troubled heart, Mrs. Mallard staring out of the window where a sense of renewal, and lastly obtains her self-identity. The story begins with friends of the Mallards preparing to inform Mrs. Mallard that she is now a widow. Her husband was thought to have died in a railroad incident.
