You are holding a stick in your hand and you are reading the words, but they are not registering in your mind. The word PREGNANT is presented in big bold letters and instead of feeling joy and love for your unborn child. Your first thoughts are, “How am I going to tell my family?”; this thought is common in the United States when it comes to women who have an unexpected pregnancy. Throughout history, women do not have control over their bodies or the decisions regarding it. Majority of the time, their family or the father of the baby influences them to choose the easier route; adoption or abortion. Some families want their daughter to keep the baby, despite their daughter’s wishes. Women should have the right to make decisions as to what happens

Although there are certain females that will use this cause into their favor, there is research that indicates, “In addition, each additional abortion is associated with an even higher death rate. Women who had two abortions were 114 percent more likely to die during the period examined, and women had three or more abortions had a 192 percent increased risk of death” (Repeat Abortions: What the Research Says 4). Innumerable amount of women in the U.S do not know about the risks of having an abortion. When the doctor explains to a pregnant woman about the risks of having the surgery; her top priority is not the death rate. If women fully understand the risks of having multiple abortions then it is within her right to proceed with the procedure. Another claim is if a woman decides to have intercourse, then it is her responsibility to take care of the baby. This claim cannot be apply to every female because each woman is different. There are women in the U.S that will accept the responsibility of another human life and take care of the baby. Nonetheless, there are women that cannot bear or comprehend the idea of becoming a mother. For instance, “Some women feel emotionally unprepared to enter parenthood and raise a child; they are too young or does not have a reliable partner with whom to raise a child” (http://family.jrank.org 2). There are situations that can cause a pregnant women to consider having an abortion. Whether she was raped, too young, will become a single mother or because she is not ready, it is not our place to judge her
