I will implement reading strategies that we learned about in unit 3.2. 08/21/2017 I will experiment with the SQ3R reading system. I will find a quiet place to read. I will annotate, highlight and preview my book.

John Steinbeck’s novel The Grapes of Wrath has become an American classic in its seventy-eight years of existence due to its accurate interpretation of the struggles faced by midwestern farmers and their journey west. The book is formatted using intercalary chapters, which tell a broader story than just the narrative. This is a strong decision that enhances the novel with expertly executed figurative language and furthers the plot by giving explanations to past events. Steinbeck’s choice to use this structure is quite beneficial and is partially to blame for the novel’s literary credibility.
The reading strategies we discussed in class and in the courses content made me a better reader by showing me many different ways to read and write and understand it very well. It uses all these methods such as the KWL charts, writing a memo and reading the novel I selected helping me improve my skills greatly to become a better reader. Have you ever failed a test because you didn’t read something? I did. In 7th grade a test that I had to read a book for. I kept telling myself “since it’s open book I don’t have to read nothing. I’ll just look for the answers when the test comes.”
ASAM 100 has been one of the most insightful classes I have taken in college—so far! Through this class, I was able to learn a great deal about my culture and about myself as a person. In retrospect to my first “Why ASAM?” essay, I still believe that it is important for everybody to learn about their culture sometime throughout their life. I was able to learn about various topics such as: the issues of my culture, the traditions of my culture, how others view individuals of my culture, and more. Throughout this class, I learned about the Model Minority Myth and its effect on individuals of Asian background, I learned about issues that other Asian Americans faced through the video, Asian American Voices, and I learned to grow as a writer.
They also appear to enjoy learning the content due to their involvement. The goal of this activity was to build students reading skills by working them through the subject and allowing them to discuss amongst each other any information that relates to the subject of the reading. It is also intended to help the students think as they read. This helped enable the students understand the subject of the reading, offer their own insight, and identify words more easily. This will also allow students to identify new words and will increase their ability with word identification and reading skills.
Even though I still struggle with a reading, I become better than before. I have more confidence to ask when I need or want to know the words. Reading give straight and opens the mind. I expect to be a better reader and writer. Reading is the key to filling and empty
For SIM lab, I was the primary RN. I received bedside SBAR report about my patient. My patient was admitted with “indigestion” and back pain. When I was doing my assessment, my patient denied any pain, but suddenly, she started complaining of back pain 6/10. The tech took her V/S while the charge nurse and I were figuring out what interventions or orders to use for my patient’s back pain.
I will also make sure my reading understands why my topics are worth exploring and why my writing is worth reading. In chapter 2-Reading in Academic context was a great chaperone as well. I really need help with reading strategoes. At times when I'm reading if I don't know something I will read
I think I am a good reader. I think this because my Lexile reading level is 807-957, which I think is pretty high for a 6th grader. By the end of the year I would like to increase my Lexile level to 980-1,000. The way I can achieve this is by reading harder books and having to understand the harder books. My highs of reading are I get to have down time, I get to interact with my characters, and I love the book I am reading right now, “Auggie and Me”, it’s the sequel to my favorite book.
The first two weeks of my internship have been very interesting. The school climate at the Middle School that I am currently working at is very positive. Students are at the top of the priority list whether it is in the classrooms or in the administrators ' office. Parents are always welcomed to come into the school and observe students in all settings.

Throughout the years I have realized that reading has changed my writing skills. From my earlier years to solely writing what my teacher would want, to now actually putting my own point of view and how I feel into my writing. It’s the same as when I am reading a book and I put
We took our time as we read aloud and followed along with our finger. After partaking in this reading program I was skilled in reading and was finally sent back to class. I put my reading skills into action any time the teacher needed a volunteer to read from the textbook. Confidence was pouring out of me as I skimmed through the passages. My literary confidence was soon put to the test when writing was put into play.
