Have you ever had to move to a new place that changed? Paul Fisher, moving from Houston, Texas all the way to Tangerine, Florida. Paul is living in a household where Paul’s parents only care about Paul’s overachiever, football playing, older brother Erik Fisher. Even though Paul doesn’t get all the attention, Paul wants to be the best he can be without Erik’s help. The author Edward Bloor uses many literary devices to bring in the book Tangerine come alive for the readers. Joey wants to know everything about Paul. All Joey wants to do is get into Pauls business but really, Paul doesn't ask about Joey's business. Paul tries to change the subject and focus more on Joey because they never talk about Joeys life besides the death of Mike. The theme in Tangerine is good vs. evil because Erik ( Paul's brother ) is favored by their parents just because he is the star, but in Paul's eyes, Erik made fun of Mike Costello's death, beat up Tino, and Eriks terrible friend, Arthur, hit Luis Cruz with a black jack and Luis died from it. ´Arthurs swollen eyes widened, and he took a step backward. Erik shot a quick look at him. Then he turned back to me, ¨Whos going to believe you, you blind little geek? You're blind! You cant see ten feet in front of you. Nobody's going to listen to you.¨ (Bloor, 262)´ This evidence proves that Paul is not afraid of Erik. Before all of this happened, Paul was scared to stand up to this parents and brother.
