Week Seven: Target Corporation The goal of any organization is to achieve success measured in production and productivity. To achieve success, it is vital that productivity, quality control, innovation, and profit are at the forefront; however, employee morale, motivation, and job satisfaction must be taken into consideration when creating human resource policy or policies. These policies and procedures must follow laws, rules, and regulations that include, but are not limited to equal opportunity employment, recruiting, hiring, firing, discrimination, sexual harassment, salaries, wages, safety, and discipline. When these areas are addressed through policies and procedures, not only will the organization run smoothly, but will also improve communication, improve production, and curb legal issues through following laws of employment (HRlineup, 2022).
No longer seen as the people in the back office, human resource professionals bridge the gap between employee and employer. When creating a strategy, Target Corporation must consult human resource professionals that understand the business, how the business operates, and situations that drive the organization (Losey, Meisinger, & Ulrich, 2005). Regardless of the size of an organization, the standardization established in policies and procedures ensure that that the organization is going in the right direction. However, there is always room for growth and improvement. By taking an in depth look at Target Corporation and understanding organizational structure, task organization, communication factors, competition, culture, and factors of success give insight to things that can be improved. To assist in improvements and long-term success, five suggested human resource policies that include recruiting, hiring, and retaining, compensation, vacation and sick pay, discrimination and harassment, and retirement policies will assist the organization in their overall production and productivity. By addressing this topics Target Corporation will take care of employees from day one to retirement. In doing so, productivity, quality control, innovation, and profit will improve.
