This excellent drop in causality numbers can be credited to a few main factors. These factors are the strategy of properly training staff so they are fully capable of preforming the job they have been tasked and educating them on the risks they will be around. Exxon has begun to conduct safety training and safety meetings with their employees. This can be easily seen in their major projects group in Western Canada that have conducted safety orientations for over 72,000 of their employees. Exxon experienced 3 major casualties in 2014 which is way under the American petroleum Institute U.S. petroleum industry benchmark. By doing this Exxon has virtually eliminated the need to pay compensation for work place incidents allowing them to thrive and further establish and excel in the Energy industry. Exxon has extremely effectively employed the strategies of training and strong leadership style to not only educate workers on obvious potential risks but also identify areas of high risks and employee policies to combat
