It is easy for some people to put on an act such as following the word of God and being religious in order to seek out someone’s faith and building a good relationship. Tartuffe was an example of someone who teaches one thing and lives by something else. He earns the faith of one person by basing his life on lies and getting certain people to believe and do what he wants. When a situation like this comes into play you should never allow for yourself to be deluded by them. Get to really know who someone is and make them earn your trust because that is pretty much at the point when you are able to find out if they are a fake or phony person. Sometimes finding out the truth may end up being that they are your worst enemy and this is one way of getting revenge or could just be the way they earn your trust to get what they want. Take Jimmy Swaggart, for example, a man who has had his own TV show, radio show, etc., advocating the word of God and has been found twice to consenting to prostitution. This act of sin is one way at which he is showing his true colors to the world. He had followers who trusted him to deliver God’s word to them. However, at the same time, he was deceiving those who believed in him and was not following his own advice. The Bible says to be sure our sins will find us out, and that will happen with those who teach the word of God to others. They will be judged more harshly than others. Swaggart was a modern day Tartuffe. When people who do these things are exposed, it gives a bad reflection to all Christian believers. It makes a person want to strive harder to build up the reputation of Christ and show that all Christians do not behave that
