Tadeusz Gebethner was not only a great person on the soccer field, but he was an even better person off the field and should be recognized for that. The Gebethner family was a well known family in Poland due to their heavy involvement in the soccer team Polonia. On the field, Tadeusz was the first president of the soccer team as well as the captain of the team. With those very large roles on a newly founded soccer team, Tadeusz integrated minorities into Polonia, even Jews. When Poland was attacked by the Germans September 1, 1939, Tadeusz joined the polish army. At one point during the war, he escaped from a prisoner camp and fled to Vilnius. I believe Tadeusz is a righteous person due to his extreme effort to help save the Abrahamers. Even though Tadeusz believed it was a “human obligation” to save the Jews, I believe he is one of the Tzadikim. He does not realize how much he is helping Jews by hiding them and risking his life. None of the commentaries we learn give Noah enough credit for what they could do today or in other generations. Although Tadeusz generation was not one of the best, he still probably would do other righteous things in other generations. I am inspired by Tadeusz because of his perseverance when times were tough with the Abrahamer family. He did whatever he could to help them. I am also inspired by him because of what he did on the soccer field. He incorporated minorities along with Jews onto the team when other teams were not doing so. Tadeusz, possibly one of the Tzadikim, is one of the most righteous people to live in the recent times because of his resilient effort to help the Jews and other minorities not only during the Holocaust, but also before on the soccer
