The Millennials especially, have grown up with technology and the ideas of entrepreneurs. This pushes the previous generation’s habits away from the millennial generation. The millennial generation would now see many of the previous gen processes to be insignificant and unnecessary; abolishing old traditions and values. “Millennials expect technology to simply work–so you’d better make sure that it does.” (Solomon, Micah). The heroes in the shows of previous generations a lot of times were lone wolfs. Not having much to do with technological communication. In the movie Tax Driver the main character Travis is very much the opposite of a millennial. He does not make very much human contact, pessimistic (especially about his city) and leaves a lot of time to his own thinking. In comparison a millennial is optimistic, sees or hears some form of communication, and occupies his or her mind with social media. Most of all Travis visits his person of interest to talk instead of leaving an indirect message. In today’s television like The Arrow the main character is always in the presence of another, surrounded by a team. Rather than one-time do good heroes we are given crime-fighting superheroes. The presence of cell phones is extremely apparent in the television series. A cell phone can be “pinged” to find its location and it holds the delicate balance between the characters. In the show when a character is unable to contact another the atmosphere becomes grim and the worst is assumed. Even when the events get to the worst for the characters they are able to rebound, more optimistic than ever.
