Ethics in History: Taxes There two things certain in life death and taxes. Taxes were first established as a temporary purpose to raise money for war. However, taxes did not go away after the war ended, they remained intact causing major problems to arise. The issues that arose from taxes during the American Revolution and the Occupy Movement were feeling of unjustified taxation of Americans. The first shot of the American Revolution rang out in April 19, 1775. The American Revolution was a reaction from the thirteen colonies in the way they were being treated by Great Britain.
