Throughout the story, Mrs. Wessex struggles to maintain control over her unruly class, resulting in chaos and disruption. When a spitball lands on her book while reading, she turns to one certain student, Gregory. And right away blame him without hesitation. Even though Gregory did not do what she claims he did, Gregory decides not to tell Mrs. Wessex who spit the spitball on her book. One real-world example of someone who was trying to do what they thought was right but came across as a villain is Richard Nixon. As the 37th President of the United States, Nixon implemented various policies and initiatives aimed at addressing domestic and international challenges. However, his involvement in the Watergate scandal tarnished his reputation and led to his resignation from office in 1974. Nixon's actions, including authorizing illegal surveillance and obstructing justice, were viewed as unethical and undermined public trust in the government (Dallek). Despite his intentions to serve his country, Nixon's disregard for the rule of law and abuse of power ultimately cast him as a villain in the eyes of the public. In conclusion, Mrs. Wessex can be considered a bad teacher due to her lack of empathy, inability to control her classroom, and failure to adapt her teaching
