My photographs all have flowers in them; it was easier for me to visualize the rule of thirds technique by using them in my pictures. The requirements for this assignment were to take pictures of anything to practice using the rule of thirds. Moreover, the process to complete this project was to find an object and take its photo, either portrait or landscape, with the object where the lines intersect. The photography skills or techniques that were required for this assignment are being able to tell if a photo is visually pleasing using the rule of thirds as well as being able to imagine the sections because they weren't on the camera.
The elements that I used when taking my photos are texture, color, and space. The way that texture was exemplified in my photos was through the flowers, more specifically the pollen and petals. By looking at those parts of the flowers in my pictures you can develop an idea of what they would feel like. Next, another element I used in my photos is color. Also, flowers are pretty and you can get many original shots by even using just one flower. I can't say I really have a connection to these photos but I can say this this assignment was important to building my photography skills. To be completely honest, this was one of my first times using a "professional" camera. (I have a camera, besides on my phone, but it's one that you can change the lens.) This assignment allowed me to really experiment with the camera and get used to it. Also, I never had used the rule of thirds before (I may have before but without knowing) and I got to see how, just by using simple lines and intersections and lining up object with them, the rule of thirds can make an image look very visually
