Most of the technology upgrades came from all the competition between all the big motor companies. Competition between big motor companies led to a lot of major improvements like technology in trucks, SUVs, and cars. One of the big motor companies like Dodge came up with a MDS motor technical system that allows the motor to shut down 4-cylinders in a V8 engine to make it into a 4 cylinder so that only 4-cylinders are working to make it use less gas and be more fuel efficient. The HEMI V8 engine will offer more horsepower and more torque with better fuel saving technology. Dodge also has throttle control which helps give more power for a heavier load and less power for a smaller load which is caused by the technology including exhaust gas recirculation, …show more content…

Ford needs to add a third row seat to get ahead and get more people to buy there SUV´s instead of GM products and so Ford SUVs can haul more people in them. When Ford wanted to outdo GM and make a bigger SUV and put a third row of seats in it, it meant for Chevy to upgrade the amount of plants that they have to build there trailblazers to make more and sell more. The Chevy Trailblazer has the bigger more powerful 270 hp V6 and V8 but the Ford Explorer has the smaller more fuel efficient V6 motor that is 210 hp. They made the smaller more fuel efficient V6 motor because it was also a lot better riding the the rest because smaller engine means not as heavy duty springs which lead to a more comfortable ride and leads to a lot more people/buyers to buy the Ford Explorer and then Ford will be making a lot bigger profit then what Chevy would be. Instead of GM adding a third row they just extended the back row of the trailblazer to give the back row a lot more room because people don't really need the third row they just need more room in the backseats and in the trunk. The GM company was knocked down by Ford because GM wasn't making vehicles as strong and powerful as what Ford was and GM´s vehicles had removable tops that leaked and the engines were small and sluggish and the confessions were getting out of hand so GM was getting tired of it all and said that they are going to be pursuing a crash course in a organizational reform and achieve consistency, efficiency, and quality in the mid-1990's that there rival company Ford has been doing for decades(Holusha 16). GM instead of rushing and trying to sell cars with a lot of recalls on it they are taking their time and having good, reliable quality vehicles like the Seville STS model. During the fall GM is creating and releasing new models of the Cadillac Seville, Pontiac Bonneville, Pontiac Grand Am, and the Buick Skylark. The Cadillac, Pontiac´s, and particularly the Seville are garnering favorable reviews from automotive critics who had long scorned GM. The new Seville could also be exactly what brings back super cars from the Orient. GM has been fighting with Ford for many of years and has been searching for the magic bullet and they think they have found it
