Throughout the book, Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, the usage of technology is beginning the development of an isolated and detached society. The technological advancements have grown to be used as sources of information instead of factual knowledge being received from books or real evidence. The reliance of technology makes screens consume everyone into defenseless and vulnerable individuals rather than technological devices used as an assisting guide further displayed in Wall-E. When Beatty is talking with Montag he says to him, “A book is a loaded gun in the house next door. Burn it”(Bradbury 56). Beatty truly believes that books provide horrible insight to the real world and everyone should live blissfully, doing nothing to learn or advance in society. The captain, Beatty, is extremely dedicated to the century-long removal of books and encourages Montag to follow his role. Beatty explains to Montag, “Today, thanks to them, you can stay happy all the time,”(Bradbury 55). Beatty shows pride in the government for taking action against rules of technology usage in order everyone can avoid contrasting beliefs. Another article, titled “An Ugly Toll of Technology”, relives the effects technology is having on people without their knowledge as screens grow more addicting. It reads, “Technologies can cause us to become more impatient, impulsive, forgetful and more narcissistic” (Tara Parker-Pope). As time goes on, people are becoming extraordinarily attached to devices resulting in problems revolving around actions and decisions. To conclude, both supportive and disapproving sources observe
