During these few weeks democrats and Republicans Who are running for president were engaged in a battle to win the Iowa caucus. The state of Iowa hosted the first official vote of the 2016 campaign. During the Iowa caucus, different tactics and strategies were used by both parties to gain votes, through the use of persuasion ,repugnant comments, and the use of the media. The two articles I will be discussing, “ Ad Wars of 2016 Campaign Erupt in a Changing TV Arena” by Nick Corasaniti and “Attack ! why next 2 weeks could get nastier than ever” by Jennifer Jacobs.
I think this quote plays a key role in Lanada Boyer’s article when getting her point across in her article; that Natives are a strong group of individuals, capable of overcoming any atrocity that the white man has created. The aforementioned quotation sparked a feeling of gratitude and a sense of belonging. Boyer used captivating words that allowed myself to be put into her shoes and subsequently experience (afar) the hardships that ‘relocation and termination’ program caused. In the article, Paula England explains that sexual attractions and behaviors are affected by biology and can be affected by social construction. However, social norms regulate how society views things as sexually appealing or disgusting. Sexual orientation refers to whether individuals are attracted to members of the sex, the same sex, or both. A study was done and the results showed that behavior attraction, and identity are not always consistent. The article discuses that same sex siblings of homosexual individuals were also homosexual when they were identical twins, fraternal twins and adoptive siblings.
In the ted talk by Adam foss, about the prosecutor’s vision for a better justice system; the theme of the talk is about when people commit crime in the this country, that the US justice system has a prosecutor that charge people for their action they committed as being explain in the chapter (7.16) of the text book. The action the government takes to punish people with their criminal record which the government has been doing for a long now till today. The author Foss believe that reforming justice system will help to replace wrath with the chances that will change people’s lives for better than destroying them with criminal record. Many parents have always used rewards such as money as a way to incentivize their children to do well in school, but recently some schools have been making programs that pay students standard. Some people think that using cash as motivation for schooling is wrong and would only create more problems; however studies have shown that this is not the case for a vast majority of the situations tested. Students should earn money for exceptional grades because it would improve overall student work ethic/morale, decrease the amount of missing/late assignments, and increase the number of students who do well on standardized tests. Students should be paid for their hard work because it would make the majority of them both happier and more eager to do their assignments.
Now, before you tell me that school is different. It isn’t. If we can teach our young-athletes that participating is enough to be rewarded, can we not expect the same inside the classroom, or later down the line in the workplace? If your child receives the lowest possible mark on a test, would you want them to be rewarded with stickers on the sheet? I can’t speak for every parent, but I am sure the majority would want their kids to smarten up and work harder at the task.
When considering the choice of paying students for good grades and not paying students for good grades, the choice should definitely be, students should not be paid for good grades. Paying students for good grades may start off their youth incorrectly. Instead of focusing on getting an education, the reward of money is likely to block their priorities.
