Fear is an emotion that will destroy judgment. In the Ted talk she explains that the men of the Essex let fear control their decision which ended in their demise. The little boys on the island hide their fear in trusting their leader and determination for getting off the island. Fear is natural things that most people experience or over experience in the form of anxiety. This also is a good point made in the Ted talk “What Fear Can Teach Us” stating that our fear is just stories told by our imaginations. Anxieties are a big factor in the changing behavior between the young boys, they're constantly worrying about what could go wrong. Fear is also something that needs to be overcome. In Lord of the Flies there is a good example of the boys overtaking their fear of not being able to escape.
