Teen pregnancy is inevitable and there are two sides to one becoming pregnant, there are people who may misconceive the presence of a teen father during a pregnancy. Stereotypes and misconceptions can frequently get mixed up by some people but are quite different from each other. Stereotypes are based on the truth but are usually exaggerated, while misconceptions are assumptions of other people. Today one uses stereotypes to categorize different groups of people and most of the time are racist or sexist. Misconceptions are used when one has a thought about someone else or a group of people and is not exaggerated. Teen fathers may want to be a part of their child’s life, but do not always follow through and end up leaving their baby’s momma and even their baby. A teenage father knows that he can not juggle school, work, and a child because he is not a superhero with superpowers. In a personal interview Jennifer, a single mother, states why the father of her son did not want to be a part of her life when she says, “He didn’t want to be a part of our lives because he said that having the baby ruined his life, because of my son he couldn’t accomplish what he wanted in life.” This quote demonstrates that the father of her son was and probably still is very selfish. Teenagers can be very selfish at a young age and having a kid will most likely not change the way teenagers are. Having a baby at a young age is not a game and should be taken
