What if you were already a mother at your age? What if you already are pregnant by this time? What should probably happen to you? Good afternoon Ma’am Yvonne, and fellow classmates. This afternoon, I would like to share to you information about one of the topmost issues in the Philippines. I know that all of you have heard many stories of teenagers getting pregnant or are already mothers. So, I would be opening to you the issue of teenage pregnancy and its effects on the educational development, health and social life of those teenagers who are aged 15-19 who are currently living in the Philippines, specifically in Dumaguete City and were from private schools. First, what is teenage pregnancy? Teenage pregnancy is actually pregnancy of human females from ages 15-19. Teenage pregnancy is quite concerning since it is arising. According to Population Commission (PopCom) Negros Island Region (NIR) regional director Darlynn Remolino that in 2014, there were around 4103 cases in the province and in 2015, there were 4895 cases. So we can see that it is developing as a serious problem in our society. Teenage pregnancy has a lot of effects to the teenagers. I will be discussing the effects of teenage pregnancy to the health, educational development and social life of the teenage mother.
