This theme greatly applies in the real world. Others might say that reading a book is boring and doesn't do anything for you besides waste time, but they're very wrong. Books not only give you more knowledge, but they take you to a completely different world. They
“On wrongs swift vengeance awaits” (Pope). Agree or not, these wise words from Alexander Pope describe well what Homer’s The Odyssey is about. In this novel, characters often seek vengeance for things or people they have lost. This is shown through Poseidon’s actions to Odysseus and his men after they stab the Cyclop’s eye, Odysseus’s men being killed by Zeus after they eat Helios’s cattle and Odysseus killing all of the suitors once he returns to Ithaca.
It is because of reading that it helped develop my interest in writing and journaling, which is enjoyable for me. Just like reading, writing is a great way for me to unwind. I love to write about topics I’m passionate about
Ancient Greeks looked at different things through different points of view. They looked at weather and decided it was from the gods, but late came to a conclusion that it was naturally happening. Greeks were the first to develop the theory that supernatural explaniations are not the only way to have the world explained. They also developed that babies are helpless on their own, so we must have evolved. We have been impacted by these discoverirs because we know that there are ways to explain things such as weather and evolution.
The Percy Jackson series. There was something about the adventure books that drew me to them. It was like an excape from the world around me. It even went further with percy Jackson. Percy was a Demi god, that was dyslexic just like all demigod in the book series, I related to him because I had so much trouble reading like my class mates did.
Hello! I enjoyed this class as much as I hoped I would. My thoughts about literature changed while doing the milestones for our final paper. As much as I enjoyed reading, I did not give much thought to cultural identity. I enjoyed stories and reading, without really absorbing the culture within the story and how that affected the theme, character development, setting, and other literary elements.
Science fiction is fiction based on imagined future scientific or technological advances and major social or environmental changes, frequently portraying space or time travel and life on other planets. One article stated, “Harrison Bergeron effectively renders Vonnegut’s vision of the unethical, misguided use of scientific and technological developments in the future” (Reed and Grigsby). The authors are explaining the fact that Vonnegut is using scientific and technological developments in the future. They are showing that they are using it for the bad, not for the good of life.
I have always been and forever will be in love with reading. I realized this when I was in fourth grade with my teacher Mrs. Gokey. She had light brown curly hair with a few blonde strands here or there up to her shoulders, stood almost 6 feet tall, and had the gentlest hazel eyes a person could have. Mrs. Gokey would read us books every Friday as a sort of treat for getting through the week. One of her first reads was the book "Mick Harte Was Here".
Books that I would like to read is “Up to No Good,” by Carl Weber and Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly. Reading has not been a fan of mine but, overtime I have grown to comply with it. Now I know that reading is so important and it is good to read once in a while. A book that I am reading now is The Help by Kathryn
Other things that intrigue me about anything involved with Literacy it is definitely writing. I enjoy reading people’s summaries of books written by other people, especially when I’ve already read the book it’s nice to see what other people’s views are on books and their opinions.
Effects of Medical and Political Views on Abortion. How do medical professionals and politicians think differently about abortion? Ever since former President Trump went into office in 2016, over the years, he started to attack the rights of abortion. “I was able to kill Roe v. Wade,” Trump said. Many states on the Republican spectrum of the political scale have used popular sovereignty (people's voice) to choose if the medical profession should allow the medical process of completing an abortion or not.
My interest in reading made school fun for me. It gave me a reason to try in school, and put forth an effort to do my best. My interest in reading when I was younger made me the student that I am today. In my first few years of school, I did not care.
According to historical records, the first ancient Olympic Games can be traced back to 776 BC. They were dedicated to the Olympian gods and were staged on the ancient plains of Olympia. They continued for nearly 12 centuries, until Emperor Theodosius decreed in 393 A.D. that all such "pagan cults" be banned. Olympia, the site of the ancient Olympic Games, is in the western part of the Peloponnese which, according to Greek mythology, is the island of "Pelops", the founder of the Olympic Games. Imposing temples, votive buildings, elaborate shrines and ancient sporting facilities were combined in a site of unique natural and mystical beauty.
In high school I was assigned to a Sarah Schuette, who was my case manager in the rescue room in high school. She is the reason I started loving to read and write. With her support and encouragement I was able to do any class in high school that I wanted, she made me take a writing class and a individualized reading class, which grew my love for reading and writing. I love to read books that I will learn from, I read a lot of books about horses as they are a big part of my life.
