Back in the 1940’s, a famous playwright by the name of Thomas Lanier Williams III, or now recognized as” Tennessee Williams”, was highlighted for his remarkable works of art in theatre. Writing was a true passion for him which led him to mold masterpieces in his work. He became one of the most grand playwrights who has existed because of the way he portrayed the characters from the story and gave them such life; moving others emotions as an effect of making the story so relatable and touching. Williams’ was born in Columbus, Missouri on March 26, 1911. In Williams’ early childhood life, it could described as joyful and exciting, but soon after he grew up and moved to St. Louis, his life was flipped upside down. Tennessee Williams had died on February 25,1983 in a hotel room. The leading factor in his death was his addiction to alcohol and drugs. Thus, he altered his name which once was “Thomas Lanier Williams III” to “Tennessee Williams. Doing this gave him a new beginning and landed him some great fortune in the process. His aesthetic writing gave him fame and “it landed him an agent, Audrey Wood, who would become his friend and adviser.” (Biography.com). One of his influences was extrinsic because his parents played a great role in his writing. One of the only reasons he began to write was from the result of his parents. The best decision that was made was that Williams never discontinued his writing. As his life continued, so did his passion and his creativity. Since he never gave up, he became one of the most grand playwrights to have lived. Tennessee had suffered from depression; that led him to encounter a nervous breakdown. As a result, Williams had turned to drugs and alcohol to drown his sorrows and suppress his depression. It helped for a brief while, but ultimately he passed away from overdose and poor
