Terrorism is the use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims. People believe there can only be one type of form of terrorism but there are many different kinds. In the 1970’s there were researchers that started to look into the different types of terrorism. These terrorist started using skills such as hijacking, bombing, diplomatic kidnapping and assassinations. The researchers came up with five different types of terrorism which are domestic, global, state, religious and national.
Domestic terrorism is violence against people population and infrastructure of a nation, it’s often by the people of the nation and also by the influence national policy. RAN is a nonprofit institution that helps improve policy and decision making though research and analysis. RAN states national security and critical infrastructure needs through objective research that helps government agencies and improves disasters preparedness response and recovery. The Ku Klux Klan in 1866 was known as domestic terrorism. The white racist group became violence against African Americans. The KKK developed in the South in the late 1860s, they decided to make their own colorful, costumes such as: robes, masks, and conical hats that were designed to hide their identities. The government carries out terror tactics. They might be going against other nation’s interests, its own population or private groups or individuals viewed as dangerous to the state. In 1930 Stalin’s purges are examples of using machinery of the state to scare a population. The result actions were rigged show trials or opponents and punishing families and friends of suspected enemies. State supported terrorism is when the government supplies, training and other forms of support to non-state terrorism
