Nearly every chapter of this book documents acts of terrorism by white people against black people: a leader’s house bombed, a protestor’s face smashed, girls going to church blown up, and finally, of course, Martin himself getting assassinated. After a terrorist attack of any kind there are always consequences that must be faced. Sometimes the point of the terrorist attacks is because the organization wished to send a message or to influence policy in their favor. However, after the 9/11 attacks administrators realized that the United States was not prepared for a tragedy of this kind and had little to no measures to prevent one, this lead them to create new programs and policies. Terrorist organization’s goal often comes down to one of the following: regime change, territorial change, policy change, social control and status quo maintenance. America has gone through difficult times with war, but has gone through harder times with the war on terror. Terrorism is defined as the use of terror or threat. The war on terror became a big deal on December 7, 1941, Pearl Harbor was bombed by hundreds of Japanese fighter planes, but has been a bigger deal since that attack on the Twin Towers in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.. One of the theories that can be used to explain terrorism is rational choice model. According to Barnard et al. (2015) rational choice theory was developed in 1986 by Derek Cornish and Ronald Clarke. This theory assumes that offenders evaluate the cost and reward of committing a crime. The rational choice model presumes that intelligence and free will, discern that criminals to have limited rationality.

The article of “Terrorism and Torture” by MSNBC gives a description of a poll that gives the opinion of different countries on the topic of terrorist torture. The opinion of countries like the United States, Mexico and Canada on this topic are divided between allowing torture to be used as a method and not allowing it to be used. In other countries, like Britain, France and South Korea they approve of using torture in rare occasions. While countries like Spain and Italy oppose using torture under any means of circumstances. In my opinion, the method of using torture on a person to save many people from harm especially in rare occasions should be allowed.
Terrorism causes fear all across the world. People are terrified because of what happens in these attacks. There are many different kinds of fear caused by terrorist attacks. Some react to these attacks differently than others. Many react to these attacks in a constructive and rational matter, this helps to not give the terrorists what they want.
