Overall I think that the film Bicycle Thieves was a very touchy and emotional movie. Even though it is an Italian neorealist cinema the techniques that was involved with the on film shot locations made the film so natural. It felt like a movie that follows a person around the time with a great story to it. Antonio seems like a hard worker and at the beginning of the film, he found a job, but needed a bicycle in order to start. He manages to get the job, but his bike is stolen and he has to wander around Rome with his son, in searching of the missing bike. The movie depicts the living and working conditions at that time being very strenuous. It also seemed like he lived in a really harsh conditioned house, it looked really old and beat down. The time that Antonio shares with Bruno throughout the film I thought was great because they stuck together most of the time. They boy wanted to help his father look for the bike because he knows it meant a lot for him and he needed to feed the family. It was not a surprise that people will steal things at that time and it is hard for the police to find anything because technology was not even close to being advanced yet. The guy probably stole the bike because he needed, but at the same time Antonio is in a similar situation trying to make a living for his family. The movie shows that Antonio must make a decision. When he tries to better his position, he leaves his family behind. He left his son near the bridge close to the stream of water. Because he went after his missing bike, he left his son, and therefore possibly to be injured. For example, he thought his son was drowning in the stream of water near the bridge. Possessions are not as important as family in my opinion. De Sica does not want the audience to become preoccupied with the things people
