Marco Rubio was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2010, representing his home state of Florida. Rubio is a member of the Republican party, and holds many conservative political views. On April 11th 2015, Rubio announced that he intended to seek the Republican nomination for President of the United States, in the upcoming 2016 general election. Rubio gave a speech in Miami, detailing his interest to seek the Republican nomination. Within his speech, certain aspects of Rubio’s unique political ideology can be seen. Some of Rubio’s political ideology, fits into the broader aspect of Libertarianism. This being a political ideology that believes in minimizing the government’s involvement in social matters and economic matters. Rubio’s speech, is his opinion on the role the general public should play in the economy. Sen. Rubio believes that the government should not interfere in the economy. As stated in the above paragraph, government regulations and taxes hurt small business owners in America. Within his speech, the solution to where economic growth will happen is discussed. In his speech he states, “If we reform our tax code, reduce regulations, control spending, modernize our immigration laws and repeal and replace ObamaCare, the American people will create millions of better-paying modern jobs” (Rubio 2). The important aspect of this passage is that the American people will be responsible for stimulating the economy. This is done by limiting the government’s involvement in the economy.
