When the book starts it tells about his life and all the things that happen throughout. Noah seems to have a difficult childhood for his mother was a rebellious and tough-loving woman. She liked having her way and she wanted out of her current situations. She then left out of the poverty situations out of her childhood, for she was a determined women that wanted to live her life on her own. She didn’t know that her soon to be child was going to have the same attitude as she did. Noah strived just like his mother and then had to same mentality as her also. One thing in this historical time is the love for God that they both had. He was someone that got them through things and make them seem not as rough. He was someone that Noah could talk to and look up to. He was someone that could listen to him at the time of need. The place that they lived in was not as accepting as other places. They seemed to be very judgemental, but then at the same time it was hard for people to accept change. People don’t like change and that is something that is hard for people to accept. I feel that he went through a terrible and hateful thing, but that he lived through it to tell his story and one that is an important one at that. This really gives you an insight into what was happening in South Africa and how things actually were. How terrible and judgemental some people were. How careful some had to be just to protect their child so that they wouldn’t be taken away from you. That someone could of been thrown into jail for having a relationship with someone that didn’t have the same skin tone as you. This blows my mind that someone could of gotten punished for something that is so small. How could people be so hateful? This gives a true insight on what was happening with people and how they truly care about people in general. This gives a true insight into how lucky some people can be with the life they have. The thing that could of been done better is that tell the story of the mother and father I feel as it was left hanging. I also want to know more of why the mother never left the father if he beat her so bad. She stayed with him so long, but she never married him and I can understand that because she could of been thrown into jail for that or punished. Did she only stay with him so she would
