Have you needed a specific trait to survive a horrible or terrifying experience? These three people have survived horrific events throughout their lives. Hyenseo Lee survived from escaping North Korea, Aron Ralston had his hand stuck under a rock for one hundred twenty-seven hours, and Rick Grimes survived a zombie apocalypse. The traits that these people had when they went through these tragic events were determination with Hyenseo Lee, intelligence for Aron Ralston, and leadership for Rick Grimes.
“Thank You Ma'am” Interpretive Response “Thank You Ma’m” is short story written by Langston Hughes. The main characters are Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones and Roger. Mrs. Jones is a large woman who works at a beauty salon. Mrs. Jones lives in a rooming house, so she doesn’t have a lot of money. Roger is a skinny 14-15 year old boy who tries to steal Mrs. Jones purse.
The purpose of “Why, You Reckon?” by Langston Hughes is to accurately display, through the times of that century and human emotion, that despite money, power, and the color of your skin there can still be an unhappiness of the soul. Her unnecessary kindness made a major impact on Roger and changes him. As the story progresses, we see that Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones shows empathy and kindness for Roger. That kindness appears to pass onto Roger near the end of the story.
Do we need to take care of each other? Taking care of each other or being brother's keeper is right things that we should do, so it is essential for people to help one another. Being brother's keeper such as help for another, and take care of another may change others lives, and it would give some hope to another. Being brother's keeper is the right things that we should do, because we can make a better situation by being brother's keeper.

Mrs. Jones experienced by a young, poor boy named Roger. Although Mrs. Jones was almost robbed, she was really tough, caring, and forgiving towards the boy. Langston Hughes short story “Thank you Ma’am” is about a boy named Roger who tries to rob an older woman named Mrs.Jones. He tries to rob her $10 for some new blue suede shoes. When Roger tries to rob Mrs.Jones she grabs him by his shirt and takes him back to her house to get him cleaned up and fed. When They get to Mrs.Jones house, she goes to her kitchen to make some food while Roger is washing his face, Roger has a chance to run while Mrs. Jones is distracted but he doesn't, he stays. Roger came to sit down with Mrs. Jones and she talks about her past life and her life now but she does not ask him about his family or about her life because she did not want to embarrass him.
She treated Roger how she would want to be treated if she was in his shoes. There are many examples of Mrs. Jones treating Roger in this way throughout the story. The first piece of evidence that supports that Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones treating Roger the way she would want to be treated is, “If I turn you loose, will you run”? “Yes’m,” said the boy.

Hughes is able to convert a language that is easier to understand by characterizing the context of story, advancing important themes, and using dialogue among the characters. Trust is one of themes that stood out while analyzing the short story. Though Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones has been victimized Roger worries that she won’t trust him, so he moves.
She treats Roger as her son. However, she is not perfect. She tells Roger that she has also made mistakes before: “I have done things too, which I would not tell you son, neither tell God, if he didn’t already know.” Roger also learns from Mrs. Jones. After having tried to snatch her pocketbook, he later tries to gain her trust.
