What does Thanksgiving mean? Thanksgiving is a holiday celebrated to cherish and celebrate everything that you are thankful for, but for some people it may be different. Everyone has a different meaning for Thanksgiving. Some just see Thanksgiving Day as a time to stuff their faces with food for no reason, I am one of those people. Other people see Thanksgiving as a time to cherish their loved ones and all of the items that they appreciate in their lives. What events take place on Thanksgiving Day? Many people have different traditions on Thanksgiving, some travel, some stay home, and others don’t even celebrate it. Although the way Thanksgivings are spent differ, they also have many similarities.
My Thanksgiving Day may seem pretty generic, but it is actually a lot of fun. I have a tradition with my cousin, who is the same age as me, where I spend the whole Thanksgiving weekend at her house; which is like 10 minutes away from mine. I go over the day before Thanksgiving and we play games and help her mom, my aunt, prepare and cook all of the food. Then on Thanksgiving, we wake up early and watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, which never fails to bring the Thanksgiving spirit. Some people eat turkey, some just eat a plain, old pizza, and some don’t celebrate at all. Those who don’t celebrate just treat it like a normal day. One thing that remains the same throughout all Thanksgivings is that this day is to be spent with family. You eat a big meal and then just hang out with your family. On Thanksgiving, some people play poker, football, and even just sit around the television, but one thing’s for sure. You need to cherish the people and items you have, while you have them on this special day of giving
