They landed in the moons ocean of storms. He explored the surface of the moon while doing multiple surface experiments. They also did the amazing feat of putting the first nuclear power generator station on the moon. This mission was to get a power source on the moon. He made the trek of 250,000 miles in order to complete this mission; it was worth it though, I mean look at those pictures taken by fellow astronaut Richard Gordon.

Scientists at NASA were able to work out many of the challenges they would face during the lunar landing of Apollo 11 through testing and research, employing their vast understanding of both science and mathematics. However, one obstacle they faced, which they couldn’t test for or model, was the great unknown of how deep the dust on the moon was. To combat the unknown, 37 inch pie plate shaped disks were placed on the end of the landing gear “so that the lunar module could sink in up to the descent stage and still allow the ascent stage to launch successfully, even if the moon's surface were covered with 10 feet or more of dust1.”
Would you consider Apollo 13 a mission success? On April 13, 1970 three brave astronauts were going to the moon, well thats what they thought. I think that this mission was a success even though they didn't go to the moon. They had to work together to survive and go through the scariest times of there lives.

The heroic story of the Apollo 13 mission has gone down in history as one of the greatest triumphs in the face of imminent catastrophic failure. Could this amazing feat have been the product of luck? With the complexity of the situation and the crucial decisions needing to be made, simply luck itself would have stood no chance. Such extraordinary accomplishments are the work of effective leaders, which can be seen in the successful return of the Apollo 13. Gene Kranz was the flight director, but moreover, an effective leader as he used his abilities to foster collaboration and build relationships in order to achieve success.
Apollo 13 was a historical event in NASA’s history. There was an accident on the spacecraft 2 days after it was launched into space. The accident was that wires were exposed inside the oxygen tanks through manufacturing and testing errors before the launch. The night of August 13, 1970 a spark from the exposed wires caused a fire, which ripped apart one oxygen tank and damaged the other inside the Odyssey,
Apollo 13 is a film made in 1995 telling the events of the aborted lunar mission in 1970 of “Apollo 13”; this was America’s third moon landing mission. The problem that I identified in the start of the film is in the original team of three astronauts, one of them had either become ill or will become because he was exposed to the measles. This happened a few days right before the launch. So, they wanted to replace the sick one and use a different astronaut.

The main cause for why we had the Apollo program when we did was the challenge by John F. Kennedy to the American people saying “I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to the earth…” (qtd. In Compton 6). It was during the cold war and the Americans and the Russians would try to do anything to show up the other country to show them who was better. But to get a man to the moon was a challenge that would take years to perfect.
2. In order for the three astronauts to get back into the earth’s atmosphere, they all had to work as a team to perform a task that had never been accomplished before. Can you think of situations where teamwork created an example of innovation? Teamwork was very essential throughout the movie.
For fifty-eight years, NASA has made ground-breaking discoveries about our solar system. Those missions take a lot of preparation and hard work. Many missions have been created to discover new things about outer space and the universe. Space probes and rovers help the world find information about the solar system. Mars Rover Spirit and Opportunity, MESSENGER, and Voyager II are some of the many space probes and rovers that were sent to planets to explore, they achieved goals, and created spinoffs.
The motivation behind this mission was; to establish the technology to meet other national interests in space, achieve preeminence in space for the United States, carry out a program of scientific exploration of the moon, and to develop man’s capability to work in the lunar environment. With this mission, they accomplished their goals
We learned how to domesticate animals and agriculture. We also learnt to write, paint science, mathematics, astronomy and just about all the other activities we practice today. A second ago, it was discovered that the Earth is not the center of the Universe. And, at the end of that second, man landed on the Moon.
