Starting in mid-January to mid-February, there was interest in assaulting the Shahikot Valley in the Paktia province of Afghanistan by employing U.S. ground combat forces as part as an operation due to intelligence reports suggesting that enemy forces, which included al Qaeda and the Taliban where in the stages of reoccupying the area to regroup its forces after its sustaining defeats during the early stages of Operation Enduring Freedom. A debate between intelligence agencies on whether the enemy troops would be on the valley floor or on the hills. Well before the battle, early intelligence estimates, which drew on HUMINT and other sources, claimed that nearly 1,000 al Qaeda and Taliban forces might be present in the Shahikot Valley but then were lowered to about 200 to 300 personnel (Baranick, Binnendijk , Kuglar, 2009). They also concluded that they were mostly living in the valley’s villages, rather than deployed in the surrounding mountains and ridgelines as they thought they would be from the more tactical
What I liked I call of the will was on chapters 1-5 because of all the constant action and excitement. 1 of my favorites is when Buck and Spitz fight to the death. Also when Buck get legs of steel and thick pelt. There was not really anything I didn’t like exWcept for when buck was abused. With all of it combined I loved call of the wild.

Former UCLA History Professor and author, Roger D. McGrath, in his article, “The Myth of Violence in the Old West,” (Gunfighters, Highwaymen, and Vigilantes: Violence on the Frontier, 1984) asserts there is no connection between the violence of the Old West and violence today. Firstly, McGrath begins his article by introducing the main claim. Then introduces Bodie an infamous town known for its crime, located on the trans-Sierra frontier. He then discusses the low rate of larcenous crime found through the FBI index; which the information shows that individuals weren’t the targets and crime was thwarted by citizens. The explanation of the law larceny rate could be due to the fact more citizens were armed, therefore criminals were threatened
Attended: Blood on the Mountain, February 21, 2017 On February 21, 2017, I attended the documentary film: Blood on the Mountain. This documentary film described the lives of coal miners in West Virginia, it showed the hardships coal miners went through to keep their jobs and their health safe from mining corporations. In relation to my class: Appalachia Studies I understood these hardships, it also made me aware of how these hardships affect the Appalachia region and the families of the coal miners. Despite understanding some of these hardships I will never be able to describe these hardships fully in their entirety, but I can relate these hardships to the course, Appalachia Studies to the best of my abilities.

The Most Dangerous Game Conflicts All stories have to have a conflict, the short story “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell has three important conflicts. Man against man, man against nature, man against himself are the three main conflicts that take place. For man against man Rainsford and General Zaroff are fighting each other in the hunting ‘game’. In the short stories “A Sound of Thunder” by Ray Bradbury and “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, both main characters are great, experienced and risky hunters. Travis from “A Sound of Thunder” takes people through a time machine back in time to hunt dinosaurs. General Zaroff from “The Most Dangerous Game” has found a new interest instead of hunting animals, and he now hunts people. Both of these stories involve hunting out of the ordinary things and show why each character chooses to do so. Although Travis and General Zaroff are both great, experienced hunters, they differ in the game they hunt, their attitudes towards others, and their motivation for shooting people.
“The Most Dangerous Game,” a short story by Richard Connell, dives into the discussion over whether animals have feelings, and if it is fine for them to be hunted for a human’s own entertainment. The main protagonist, Sanger Rainsford, an American author and hunter, and the antagonist, General Zaroff, a hunter as-well, have similar views in the concept of dominance and killing animals for their own pleasure. Throughout the events of the story, both characters, ironically, switch between being the ‘hunter’ and ‘huntee’ through the development of the story, and it explores the different strategies, thoughts, and feelings they experience in their situations. The theme of “The Most Dangerous Game” concentrates on the human tendency for superiority and power under any circumstance, no matter how inhumane. The theme is demonstrated through the beliefs and actions of the characters, along with the conception of the game.

The next two final scenes are represented as the rapid development of the tribe in compare with another similar group the habitat. The first scene shows the tribe doing their regular activities, but in this case in a different way if compare with the first exposition of the same tribe for the first time at the beginning of the first

In the short story, “The Most Dangerous Game,” the main character Rainsford had gotten stranded on a dangerous island where Zaroff, a Russian Cossack General, hunted humans for sport. He feels that God put the weak on earth to give the strong pleasure, and up until it was his turn to be hunted, so did Rainsford. Earlier in the story Rainsford had stated, “The world is made up of two classes-- the hunters and the huntees.” And as harsh as it may sound, it is technically correct.
