The Beach Boys are a group of 5 from California, with three of the five members being born in the same city of Hawthorne. The group assembled in Hawthorne, CA, USA as the other two members moved to the city just 30 miles from Los Angeles. The members of the band include the three Wilson brothers Brian, Dennis, and Carl along with their cousin Mike Love and friend Al Jardine. Al would leave after a year and would be replaced with David Marks, although he would later rejoin the group. Brian played the bass guitar and was a vocalist, Dennis played the drums, Carl played lead guitar, Mike was a vocalist and Al was responsible for the rhythm guitar. The group, then known as The Pendletones would soon have a studio recording session where the group would skyrocket into the history books with the music they created. The group would soon rise to stardom as their single ‘Surfin’ Safari’ was soon the second highest song on the Los Angeles radio. They then signed with Capitol Records on February 13, 1962. The Beach Boys would have great success throughout the 60s before the decline of the group. They produced many hit songs and Brian Wilson had revolutionary ideas that catapulted The Beach Boys to the top of the charts with hit songs. He sat out of the touring with the group for a while and it pays off with the mastermind 1966 album, Pet Sounds. The high points for The Beach Boys was in the 60s mainly between 1962 and 1967. Their prime included many chart topping singles as they once had 20 songs in the top 40. Their entire album of Pet Sounds released in 1966 was the pinnacle of their career. The unique instruments, using two empty coke cans for percussion, and psychedelic vibe, along with great hooks, set the career of The Beach Boys in the history
