Turning points can challenge your life at times. It can make your life better or worse. This idea comes up in Hatchet, a fiction by Gary Paulsen, Guts, a non-fiction by Gary Paulsen, and Island of the Blue dolphins, a fiction by scott o’dell. These stories all have turning points that affect them in the same way, doing so, they change their lives and things around them.
Everything To know About The Large Mouth Bass! Imagine fishing on a dock, or on a deep-sea boat. Imagine all the different of fish you can see or catch while you’re there. Lets put a little more thought into it!
Baleen whales, some of which are the largest animals to have ever lived on earth, eat some of the smallest, most abundant life in the oceans: plankton. Some baleen whales also eat small schooling fishes, and a variety of crustaceans such as krill, copepods, and amphipods. Baleen whales use baleen to strain food from the water.
Stuck in a cement container that’s only eight meters wide for 14 long hours a day, practically motionless. That’s how his circus life began. Tilkilim, also known as Tili, was torn from his mother at the age of only two (A Killer Whale Gone Very Bad). He would spend 14 long hours in an eight-meter-wide enclosure with two park female killer whales, who viciously bullied him (A Killer Whale Gone Very Bad). Now today, he spends most of his time alone, drifting lifelessly in a pool at Orlando’s Seaworld (A Killer Whale Gone Very Bad).
Bottlenose dolphins communicate by using a number of squawks, chirps, and clicks. Some even have "talked" on the phone. That's right! During one study, researchers in Hawaii listened as a mother dolphin and her baby—swimming in separate tanks—chatted to each other through a special audio device.
Like cows, they are big, gentle mammals that love to eat grass. Of course, manatees live in the water and they graze on sea grass, and instead of hooves, they have flippers on the ends of their front legs, and instead of back legs, they have a giant flat tail. The reason they live along the coast and in the river around here is because they can’t survive in water that is too deep or too cold. Warm, shallow water is the perfect habitat for them. They can easily float to the surface and breathe, and they can float back down to the bottom, where they chow on sea
Hammerhead sharks rarely attack humans. Only 17 atacked have happened in the last 450 years but none of the attacks were serious enough to be fatal. The animal i'm going to be comparing the hammerhead to is a bottlenose dolphin. The dolphin doesn't chew its food it just goes down the throat like a snakes. I think that the dolphin would be a better survival than the hammerhead because they live in a lot more places than the hammerhead.
Captivity: the condition of being imprisoned or confined. Orca whales in captivity make up 70% of Sea Worlds revenue. While children and families across the country pay to see Shamu, they are actually funding one of the cruelest money corrupt corporations in the world. Between the mistreatment of the whales themselves, and the multiple injuries and deaths of the trainers; keeping Orca Whales in captivity are not worth the risk. The positive aspects of capturing and mistreating whales do not outweigh the dangers.
In the novel, The Island of The Blue Dolphins by Scott O’dell a girl and her father, who was a leader of the island are living their life on an island. The Humpback Whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) is one of the largest of the Cetaceans. They are fairly well known, even outside of the scientific community. They are identifiable by their dark grey dorsal color, white underbellies, very long pectoral flippers and by their habits of breaching and raising their tales above the water before diving. Their range expands tropical, temperate, and sub polar waters all around the world. They migrate in search of breading grounds and feeding grounds.
This graph shows a more stable recording in the movement of this type of orca; the furthest that the whale in graph B dives is about 75 meters. Resident killer whales are also known to only prefer fish, opposed to the transient killer whale, which targets marine mammals. The graph also supports the fact that resident killer whales are exactly what their name says, they are familiar with the territory they inhabit, which allows them to frequent and move about more, where as with the transient orca, they could only go so far because they navigate and dive according to where their food is. Both graphs are very distinct in terms of figuring out which type of killer whale it depicts; the resident killer whale has a very consistent dive and depth pattern, and is very easy to detect because of the obvious background of its kind—what it preys on as well as where it usually migrates to, where as the transient killer whale has a more spaced out graph, due to the fact that unlike the resident killer whale, it stays more to the coastal areas and would only dive deep to seek out other marine mammals to prey
They are used in a popular dish called shark fin soup, which is a delicacy in some parts of the world. According to an article by Ocean portal a shark fin has an estimated cost of 500 a pounds. That is the equivalent to $1100 a kilogram. It is said that Japan's hunt is one of the biggest slaughters in the world, yet many of Japan's own people don't know what is taking place and happening to the dolphins. It is cruel even to think that this happens every year and that there is even a season for the slaughter of these dolphins, which happened’s in October then continues through the end of February and finishes off through April with small wheals.
They have the freedom to make their own choices on when they eat and rest etc. But when in captivity, the animals spend around 80% of their time at the surface, looking for attention and food from their carers and trainers because these are the people that make choices and decisions for them. Cetaceans usually eat different fish and sea creatures and some mammals even eat other mammals. Orcas and dolphins travel in pods, this helps with hunting and keeping safe in general whilst orcas commonly dive thousands of feet looking for food and also work as a team to hunt down and catch their prey. When in captivity, the cetaceans are fed only a limited amount of fish, which are dead.
Whereas in the wild the polar bear can wander endlessly without walking into a glass wall. Dolphins naturally travel up to 100
Sea anemones are very relatives of orals. They provide refuge for fishes and their eggs. They are known for their symbolic relation with anemone fishes and clown fishes. Anemone fishes, in return, protect the anemone from predators and they also may also remove
