The greatest heroes in human history, whether real or fictional, are often portrayed as lone-wolves, people who neither require nor want help from others. But that is entirely untrue. Every president has a vice president, every superhero has a sidekick. And if even those people need help, then of course a normal man such as Nick Flynn does too. In Another Bullshit Night in Suck City, by Nick Flynn, Flynn details his and his absent father’s experiences, as they dance around each other for years before slowly developing a relationship.
The character that I have chosen to critique for this assignment is “Simon” played by Michael T. Kachingwe. Simon was one of the three characters in the play titled “The Whipping Man” written by Matthew Lopez and directed by C. Julian White. The production of “The Whipping Man” took place in Cal Poly Pomona University Theater. The production of “The Whipping Man” that I witnessed occurred on March 3rd 2018.

Often times you see heroes on television who have super strength of flying powers, but heroes come in many different forms of people. Irena Sendler for example, was a great hero. Not many people know the name of Irena Sendler, she had done something big that impacted and saved the lives of many jews. Some heroes may be fictional as well.
War Changes Molarity Tim O’Brien is both the author of the novel The things they carried, and one of the most important characters. Tim O’Brien narrator and some might say the protagonist. O’Brien seems to be really confused throughout the novel. He has some guilt that he tries to deal with over and over again throughout the novel, but when the war is over he uses his ability to tell stories to help him deal with his guilt and confusion. O’Brien might have been a character that abides the moral code but after entering the Vietnam war, morality never seemed to exist.
In the book Bad Boy Brawly Brown, one of the main characters names is Easy. Easy is someone who’s in his late twenty’s he lives a tough lifestyle which has made him even more powerful. This character has seen a lot throughout his childhood which is why he became a street boy making the wrong decisions hanging around the wrong crowd of people because that’s all he ever saw growing up in the streets with his older friends until things went left for Easy. The world views Easy as a powerful person but yet he’s known to be dangerous
Courage is exemplified in the novel by, “They wanted a better life for my sister and me. My sister is running away to get lost, but I am running away because I want to find something.” (page:46) “You’ll be the first one to ever leave the reservation this way,” Mom said. (page:47) Junior attending Reardan an all-white school even though, he know want he would be known as traitor on the reservation.

The book uses a teenagers perspective to exhibit these struggles. This helps teenagers connect to the book as even they might have perspectives similar to of Junior’s (main character). Both the authors use similar literary devices like external conflict, internal conflict and characterization to keep the reader interested in the text. In Kate Chopin’s “The Story of an Hour” demonstrates the personal growth of the dynamic protagonist Louise Mallard, after hearing news of her husband’s death. The third-person narrator telling the story uses deep insight into Mrs. Mallard’s thoughts and emotions as she sorts through her feelings after her sister informs her of her husband’s death. During a Character analysis of Louise Mallard, a reader will understand that the delicate Mrs. Mallard transforms her grief into excitement over her newly discovered freedom that leads to her death. In Charlotte Perkins Gilman's "The Yellow Wallpaper", the narrator of the story is constantly at battle with many different forces, such as John, her husband, the yellow wallpaper that covers the walls of her room, and ultimately herself. Throughout the story the narrator further detaches herself from her life and becomes fixated on the yellow wallpaper that surrounds her in her temporary home, slowly driving her mad. The narrator of "The Yellow Wallpaper" is a major and dynamic character as she is the main character of the story, and throughout the story her personality and ways of thinking change drastically.

From the perspective of the challenged 16-year-old Starr, it is seen the transition to becoming in touch with her voice to use for her recently killed friend Khalil and learns how powerful of a weapon it can be. Angie Thomas in The Hate U Give details the main character Starrs development, as she discovers to advocate for her friend Khalil and herself, through her journey to find her voice, by speaking up at the police station, in front of the grand jury, and during the riot. Stephanie Plum, Morelli, and Ranger are three main characters in the book, One for the Money, by Janet Evanovich. Stephanie is a young woman struggling to get by in the city of Trenton, New Jersey. After losing her job, she goes against her family’s request and gets the dangerous job of a bounty hunter. She gets assigned Joe Morelli, who was accused of murder and who happened to be a childhood enemy. Stephanie is very inexperienced and receives help from a professional bounty hunter, Ranger.
The Stranger by Albert Camus follows the daily life of Meursault, a French-Algerian that embodies Camus’ philosophical views of absurdum. Meursault’s life is a simple one; at first glance, he is like any other working, middle class man. However, through the first person narration, we gain insight into his unconventional thought process. He does not place value on anything, including, possessions, love and ambition. Nevertheless, he is content with his life.
Forrest is also a sympathetic man, especially when he became a father. He notices his disability and is aware of his own limitations, he knew that his son would be much smarter than he does, but he still tries his best to support his son, such as trying his best to read story books (e.g. Curious George) to his son. American people at that time are often prejudiced, especially at the race perspective. However, Forrest is not prejudiced and judgment, he sees people regardless of their gender, race, age, and religion. This is demonstrated in the movie through his relationship with Jenny, he always accepts her for whom she is, he sees past the predicaments Jenny is in, for example when Jenny was singing in a club naked.
