1. Introduction
The Call of the Wild is a great book about a dog who is deprived of his comfortable house life and is forced to do hard labor. This dog, Buck, becomes the head of a sled-dog team and finds a new, loving owner. Buck starts to trust his new owner, John Thornton, and saves him multiple times. The author, Jack London, personifies Buck and gives him thoughts as if he was a human. This helps the reader by telling the reader what Buck is thinking about in every scenario in the book.
2. Characters

He is a loving owner and cares a lot for Buck. Thornton saves Buck from a deadly beating from Hal, a gold digger. Buck later saves Thornton by saving him from drowning. After Thornton dies, Buck goes to his burial site every year.
Spitz is a strong dog that is in Buck’s sledding team. He causes many fights and wins them too. Buck and Spitz were always fighting for power, and eventually Buck kills Spitz and becomes the leader of the sled dog team. Spitz does whatever he wants to, not caring if it is right or wrong.

Buck is sent to the Klondike region after fierce beatings and becomes part of a sled dog team owned by Francois and Perrault, two mailmen. While dog sledding, Buck learns to adapt to the wild and becomes very dominant. Then Buck gets into a rivalry with Spitz, the lead dog. Buck later kills Spitz in a fight and becomes the leader.
After being sold to another mailman, the team is sold again to Hal, Mercedes, and Charles. These three are going to Alaska to find gold, but their inexperience led the team into many failures. When they reach John Thornton’s property, John tells them not to go further because they might fall into the ice. Hal disregards him and goes forward, but Buck doesn’t move. Hal starts beating Buck and Thornton saves Buck and becomes Buck’s owner. Hal and the other dogs go and they fall into the ice to their deaths.
Afterwards, Buck grew closer to Thornton. Buck saved his life and won a 1,600 dollar bet by pulling a sled weighing one thousand pounds. When Thornton went mining with his friends, Buck went into the wilderness and befriended wolves and hunted. Buck did this for a couple days until an Indian tribe kills Thornton.
