The Cathars The Cathars were a group of Christians in southern France in the 12th century, who faced a quarrel with the Roman catholic church and their teachings. Their way of living was very different form the traditional Catholicism. One of the big differences between Catharism and Catholicism was the fact that Cathars thought that the world wasn’t created by God, and that God was completely foreign to this world.
